"The person, whether it be a gentleman or a lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid"- Jane Austen
I just couldnt help myself, could I? I stumble across a Jane Austen reading challenge and I simply must take part!
This reading challenge runs from 1 January 2010 until 31 December 2010, and although being an avid Jane Austen fan, I will be undertaking the challenge as a Newbie reader, meaning I have to read at least 4 books: 2 by Jane Austen and 2 re-writes/prequels/sequels etc. I figure I should be able to squeeze these in somewhere amongst all the other books I plan on reading this year.
The books I plan on reading for this challenge are:
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen **COMPLETED**
Lady Susan/The Watsons/Sandition by Jane Austen **COMPLETED**
Darcy & Anne by Judith Brocklehurst **COMPLETED**
Mr Darcy Takes a Wife by Linda Berdoll **ABANDONED**
If you're interested in taking part as well, simply head over to The Life (and Lies) of an Inanimate Flying Object to get all the particulars of the challenge and to sign up. If you've not read Jane Austen before, then this is a great challenge to get you started!
Happy Reading!

Welcome on board. It'll be fun! Thanks for commenting on my blog. Enjoy the reading!
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for commenting on my blog. I have a (maybe stupid) question: Why do you have two blogs? (This one and the "Live Journal") Just curious :-)
ReplyDeleteKristine:
ReplyDeleteI had the LJ first and have a bunch of friends that still read it, as well as a fantastic f-list whose news I like to keep up with, so I've pretty much kept it for that. I can also make the LJ as random as I want, which I like: I put stuff there that I wouldnt put here at my blog. I do repeat things from my blog at my LJ every now and then, but that's if I think a particular post would be of interest to someone who reads my LJ but not my blog.
That's it, really.
Thanks for stopping by! :)

Good luck with the challenge though I'm guessing it'll probably be a breeze for you. I'm definitely new to Austen (despite hearing so much). I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice last night and immediately switched on the dvd right after!
ReplyDeletegood luck with Jane! i read all the novels when i was 12! 2 years ago after the jane austen book club movie, i read them again! it was very joyful!
